Mark J. Wegleitner, M.D.
received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 1958. He subsequently served in the United States Armed Forces, in both the Air Force and the Army. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and eventually served as Chief of Otolaryngology there. In 1975, he retired from the army and began practicing in El Paso, Texas. Shortly after, he founded El Paso Ear, Nose & Throat Associates. His interests encompass all aspects of Otolaryngology.
Jorge J. Arango, M.D., F.A.C.S.
was born in Santiago de Cuba and moved at an early age to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he grew up. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1985. Dr. Arango completed his Otolaryngology-Head and Neck training at the University District Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1991 and moved to El Paso, Texas later that same year. He became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in the fall of 1994. Dr. Arango has been with El Paso Ear, Nose & Throat Associates since he came to town where he further developed his skills in the art of Endoscopic Sinus Surgery and Otology. He practices general Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, with special interest in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery and Ear surgery.
Patrick J. Gomez, M.D., F.A.C.S.
was born and raised in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1983. He completed his General Surgery Internship and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Residency at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1990. Dr. Gomez served two years as Assistant Chief of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Camp LeJeune Naval Hospital in North Carolina. During that time, he also served at Naval Fleet Hospital Five in Saudi Arabia during the Middle East Gulf War. Dr. Gomez has practiced general Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery since arriving in El Paso in 1992 with special interests in Nasal Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Surgical Treatment of Sleep Disorders (Apnea), Diseases of the Ear, and Head and Neck Oncology including Thyroid Carcinomas.
Kenneth R. Korzec, M.D., F.A.C.S.
earned a Doctorate of Medicine in 1981 at Rush Medical College in Chicago. In 1986 he completed a ﬁve year residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. He completed an additional year of training as a Fellow in Pittsburgh, concentrating on the Surgical Treatment of Facial Paralysis and Endoscopic Sinus Surgery. Dr. Korzec practiced medicine as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo for six years prior to practicing in El Paso. Dr. Korzec practices all forms of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and has special interests in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, Nasal Surgery, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the Surgical Treatment of Facial Paralysis.
Rafael I. Garcia, M.D., F.A.C.S.
was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He obtained a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico in 1986. He completed his Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Residency at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and afﬁliated hospitals. In 1993 Dr. Garcia completed additional fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncology Surgery at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in Buffalo, New York (the oldest comprehensive cancer center in the U.S.). He remained at RPCI as Assistant Professor of Head and Neck Surgery until 1994 when he relocated to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Until his arrival to El Paso, he was Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and the San Juan Veterans Administration Hospital. Dr. Garcia practices General Otolaryngology but has particular special interest in Head and Neck Cancer Surgery and Reconstruction.
Gary Nanez, M.D., F.A.C.S.
was born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Sunland Park, New Mexico. He completed his residency at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque and went on to specialize in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, earning his doctorate in that ﬁeld as well. From 1989 through 1993, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He moved to El Paso in 2002. He practices general Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, with special focus on allergy treatment and Sinus and Otologic disorders. He set up the allergy department at El Paso Ear, Nose & Throat and is currently working on obtaining his Fellowship in Otolaryngic-Allergy.
Jorge I. Contreras, M.D.
was born in Ciudad Juárez, México and raised in Sunland Park, New Mexico. He completed his undergraduate work in chemistry at the University of Michigan and then obtained a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 2007. Dr. Contreras completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque in 2012. He then went on to complete an additional year of training as a fellow in Rhinology and Allergy at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2013. He moved to El Paso later that same year. Dr. Contreras practices general Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery with a special interest in the care of Sino-Nasal disorders, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, and Otolaryngic Allergy.
Beth A. Longnecker, Au.D., CCC-A
graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech, followed by her Master’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Washington. Beth continued her education at the University of Florida, where she earned her Doctorate of Audiology. Beth has been practicing Audiology with El Paso Ear, Nose & Throat Associates since 1982. She is most interested in hearing disorder treatment of pediatric patients and balance disorders. In her spare time Beth enjoys wine tasting and collecting
Armando Lopez, Au.D. C.C.C.
graduated from New Mexico State University with his Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders. He completed his Masters in Audiology at University of Northern Colorado and then continued his education, earning a Doctorate in Audiology from Salus University in Pennsylvania. Armando has been practicing Audiology with El Paso Ear, Nose & Throat Associates since January 2006. He is particularly interested in pediatric testing, hearing aid fitting and evaluation, and disorders and diseases of the ear in regards to Audiology.
In his spare time Armando is an avid sports fan, enjoys fishing and spending quality time with his family.
